Matthew R. Poulsen, MD

Dr. Matthew Poulsen is a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon who specializes in Sports Medicine, with a primary focus on knee and shoulder surgery. Dr. Poulsen focuses on surgical and non-surgical treatments for adult and pediatric sports medicine-type injuries, including fractures.

Educates Patients

Dr. Poulsen feels strongly about taking the time to educate patients and answer any and all questions.  He is truly concerned with making each patient feel comfortable with their treatment plan.

ACL Techniques

During fellowship at the University of Kentucky, Dr. Poulsen learned the latest, recently-developed anatomic ACL surgical techniques. During surgery, it is extremely important that the ACL be reconstructed anatomically (i.e., making sure the native insertion points are recreated).

Having experienced many athletic injuries himself, Dr. Poulsen understands the need and desire to return to sports and other activities as soon as possible. Based on his experience, he is able to empathize with the emotional difficulties associated with temporarily being "out of the game" because of injury.
